Dr. Nairizi at the official invitation of Russian Ministry of
Agriculture attended the ‘Golden Jubilee of Land Reclamation Development
Program’ in Russia on 1-3 June, 2016.
He delivered a speech on cooperation of ICID and RUCID for
reduction of poverty and hunger in the Practical and Applied Conference which
was held on the occasion of this
event.
Highlighting the great potentials of Russia regarding water
resources, land and technical power, the head of ICID added that this country
with pursuing land cultivating programs can turn to one of the major
food-producers in the world.
Dr. Nairizi cited the Technical Support Unit and IRIDP
Regional Nodes as special programs of ICID. He underscored that Russia, via
these two programs, can play a key role in the materialization of the prospect
of the Commission for Achieving Food Security and Reduction of Poverty and
Hunger in the world.
In this trip, Dr. Nairizi met with the chancellor of the
Russian State University of Agriculture, head of RUCID and other government
officials.
The head of ICID also scheduled to have a business
meeting attended by the advisor of the Russian president and deputy minister of
agriculture. In the meeting, regional and international issues on food security
were discussed. Later, at the inaugural session of the Golden jubilee of
Russian Land Reclamation, he elaborated on the ICID programs in this field.
